Where Have I Been? | Life Lately

reading books in booksale

Hello, lovely people who are reading this post! How have you been? Wow! It's been over a month since I wrote something on my blog. I'm sorry for being MIA this whole time. It's just that, I found myself rolling six feet under the ground once again.

When I decided to get back on blogging earlier this year, I made a promise to myself that I would be at least consistent. I never thought that I would miss a month. I know it's not such a big deal and it may sound really dumb to you, but the fact that I can't even keep it, tells something about myself. The thing is, I was really busy with work 2 months ago and even though I decided to make a post about my LIFE LATELY SERIES, I end up scrapping the whole idea because I was dead tired, and I couldn't find the right time to sit down and write my thoughts to the world. That's the thing about me though, once I missed a step of the whole routine, I will surely ruin the whole thing.

Aside from being busy with work, I also found myself spiraling into the abyss of listlessness. I feel that way once in a while, but then, no matter how dark it will get, I always bounce back to my reserve and content self. I know I'm not the most enthusiastic person you'll ever meet, but it's okay because I have all the things I need in my room.

This quote really speaks to me:
“I had already found that it was not good to be alone, and so made companionship with what there was around me, sometimes with the universe and sometimes with my own insignificant self; but my books were always my friends, let fail all else.” – Joshua Slocum, Sailing Alone Around the World.

I have always been drawn to solitude. Now, I’m full speeding ahead with the company of my books, anime, and purring cats, all the while dressing up as an old woman completely resigned to the fact of the ephemerality of it all. Working at home is such a blessing for an introvert person like me. I never like being outside surrounded by people, because surely, at the end of the day, I will be like a withered flower. I don't know why but it's so hard for me to be interested in the daily lives of the people I know. I always put on my fake smile and feigned enthusiasm about all things that are not really turning my curiosity button. I wonder when will I be able to grow out of it and just be myself.

I know it sounds depressing and all, but on a lighter note, I finally finished watching Kimetsu no Yaiba and Mushishi S2! Also, I'm done reading with Banana Yoshimoto's NP. I can't wait to read her other books! I know this kind of achievement is not much, but at least it gets me out of the limbo.

Thank you for reading this post! Until then!

  2. Life happens and its okay to take a month off if it's needed! I am someone who loves solitude as well, so I definitely relate to that.

  3. I am still compromised to finish my reading goal of this year. By the way lately I feel depressed bexcause my life has not going was I expected, I on´t know how I should feel now but in my particular case I need to work because I need a lot of stuff If I want to progres. For me is not bad a little of solititude in company of your books and anime.

  4. I really know the feeling of being too tired to write, or of falling completely out of routine because of one slip up. It's nice to hear your honesty in this post and I enjoyed reading it :) I hope you find time for the things you love to do and that you have access to all kinds of books wherever you go ;)

  5. I can understand this well. I'm always hoping I can make a blog entry at least once a month if not twice but then something happens and I end up not following through. Still, since a blog is suppose to be meant for your own personal fun I wouldn't worry about it too much. At least that is what I tell myself.

  6. So glad to see you back here! As someone who is also drawn to solitude, I understand where you're coming from and as long as you bounce back, it's all good :)

  7. Solitude has the potential of bringing renewal and restoration. Wishing you peace in every area of your life.

  8. Blogging is a time-consuming routine. I can be a little all-or-nothing, too: if I get off the wagon even for a day then I'll be off for quite some time.
Some people must be drawn to solitude. I can easily go an entire day without speaking to someone. It doesn't make me lonely. Although I do interact with people online on a daily basis.

  9. I'm happy to find you've found something that helps you to escape the limbo - reading can serve as a brilliant escape! I hope you have a lovely weekend Sarah :)

  11. I can totally relate to this beautifully written post! I've struggled with blogging a lot lately, my heart hasn't been in it and I'm such an all or nothing person, so the blog has had to take a backseat for nearly two months. Reading is such a great escape! ♥︎
